Joan Higginson

Hi, my name is Joan Higginson. I started my career as a self-employed Beauty Therapist over 30 years ago. I moved to FE working as a tutor and IQA in Beauty Therapy and Complementary Therapies. I then undertook the role of Curriculum Manager in various sectors including Hair, Beauty, Spa, Public Service and Sport where I enjoyed my management role for over 20 years. On leaving the sector over six years ago I became a freelance Internal Quality Assurer.

My job responsibilities are within quality procedures and supporting teaching and learning. My role is to IQA,  Level 1 to 3 in Beauty, Nails and Make -up and I work over various sites within the Pathway group.

My professional achievement has been to develop my own career over the years to now be able to support others.

On a personal note, one of my passions is travelling and I have been fortunate enough over the years to have travelled to many countries and walked the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu for charity. There are still more places to see so hopefully I will be able to start travelling again soon.

My passion throughout my career has been to enable people to develop their skills and help with their journey along the way.
