My name is Eddie Cottis, thanks for visiting my biography. A little about me and what makes me tick, firstly I started my working life as a Chef, back in the late 1970’s and then moved into a range of roles including becoming a baker and then a taxi driver, before going to university as a ‘Mature Student’. I know, from experience, that life is about adapting to change. To me it is clear we all need to reinvent ourselves in response to changes in our environment and to make the best of emerging opportunities.
My 25 years in FE working across a wide range of roles includes teaching and several managerial positions, previously including previously being the Head of Partnerships and Opportunities at Pathway. Key achievements include securing substantial FE and DWP contracts in excess of £45 million and recently developing 5 VLEs and their associated integrated live classrooms, in response to COVID, supporting over 5,000 learners.
I returned to Pathway Group as Head of Transformation and Sustainability after 5-years expanding my knowledge in the wider educational sector. I now work closely with other members of the Senior Leadership Team to help drive and build the learning experience whilst ensuring business sustainability and growth.
One of my favourite quotes “Technology is built by people for people, and it needs to be as close as possible to people in order to better serve them. This involves cultivating a deep understanding of the users and learning how to collaborate closely with them with a minimum of friction.” Pascal Bornet – Forbes Technology Council
In my downtime my hobbies and interests are walking, travel, photography and some may say following the trends in new emerging technologies.
