“I enrolled in a Health & Social Care course because I find it interesting and wanted a new challenge. I have a great tutor, Sally, who delivers the material clearly and provides support. The course is easily understandable, and my tutor can elaborate on any areas I struggle with. I expressed my interest in a healthcare career and was directed toward this course. I have a passion for caring for others, as I have been doing it for family and friends all my life, so I believe I am on the right path towards a fulfilling career in Health & Social Care.”

Qualifications and prior experience are not always necessary in this field.

What is vital is your values and approach to working with those who require care and support.
As a social care worker, you can improve the lives of those in your care by promoting independence and a better quality of life. Essential values for success in this field include treating individuals with dignity and respect, a collaborative work style, a commitment to providing quality care, and a continuous desire to learn and grow in the role.

These values are reflected in everyday actions such as active listening to those in your care, respecting their right to make their own choices, working cohesively as part of a team, and being there for them in times of need.
