From Apprentice to Success: Safiyah’s Inspiring Journey through the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship

Safiyah’s journey exemplifies how apprenticeships develop essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours for personal development and career advancement.

In a recent interview, Safiyah, Business Administrator Apprentice at Pathway SkillsZone Bradford enthusiastically shared her thoughts on her apprenticeship journey at Pathway Group:

Safiyah: Developing essential Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours

Safiyah became skilled in using multiple IT packages and systems, such as MS Office, to write letters, create proposals, perform financial processes, and record and analyse data. She gained the ability to choose the most appropriate IT solution for various business problems. She produced accurate records and documents, including emails, letters, files, payments, reports, and proposals. Safiyah made recommendations for improvements and presented solutions to management. She even coached others in completing these tasks.

During the apprenticeship, Safiyah learned to exercise proactivity and good judgment, making effective decisions based on sound reasoning. When faced with challenges, she sought advice from more experienced team members. She built and maintained positive relationships within her team and the organisation. She demonstrated the ability to influence and challenge appropriately, became a role model to peers and team members, and developed coaching skills as she gained area knowledge.

Safiyah enhanced her communication skills across various channels, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing, or on digital platforms. She confidently answered questions from inside and outside the organisation, representing the company with authority. Completing tasks to a high standard became second nature to Safiyah. She continuously improved her work and shared administrative best practices across the organisation.

Safiyah was a key point of contact for enquiries. She took responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, effectively managing priorities and time to meet deadlines. Safiyah set a positive example for others in the workplace and suggested improvements to working practices.

Safiyah learned to use project management principles to plan, monitor, and report. She developed in-depth knowledge of the organisation, its purpose, activities and values. Safiyah understood her role’s importance within the organisation and recognised how her skills could help advance her career.

Safiyah has consistently exhibited role-model behaviours and positively contributed to the organisation’s culture. She maintained professionalism, displayed exemplary personal qualities, managed performance effectively, adapted to changing priorities, and demonstrated responsibility for team performance and project quality.
