Halesowen has a rich medieval history, known for its markets. During the 18th century, Halesowen developed rapidly due to the Industrial Revolution. The manufacture of nails was the staple trade in the town, and many mills were used for slitting and iron production and are now known for their pedestrianised high street and shopping precinct.
