Wellbeing Shop

The Team at Pathway SkillsZone Burslem Academy take embracing Social Values to heart. As part of one of the regular weekly staff meetings, they’ve discussed the proposed idea of the ‘Wellbeing Shop’. Many of the Pathway SkillsZone team members felt it would be a different way of supporting the learners with donations of all varieties to help make their lives easier. It’s widely known that those unemployed struggle financially, and some struggle to go out to shops due to social anxiety and mobility.

The idea was conceived after several team members saw a similar item from the hit Netflix TV Series “Maid”.

In the series, a similar concept in a larger context was used in a ‘DV Shelter’ and thus was adopted to aid the learners in our centre.

“Providing a safe environment to access the wellbeing shop has proven popular with many students accessing it since its launch in late January 2022, describing it as amazing as they struggle to meet their needs for both themselves & their families, and they’re extremely grateful.

Items such as long-life foodstuffs, clothing, children’s toys, household items and entertainment items such as DVDs have been warmly received as part of the Wellbeing Shops donations, and we often have to frequently re-stock with contributions as well!”

We take great pride in knowing that the donations provided are making a difference in the lives of our learners and their families during these challenging times. Whilst finances are often at their most difficult and hopefully make their home lives easier and more enjoyable.
