The Development Manager holds its annual graduation ceremony
The Development Manager Ltd. (TDM), a leading West Midlands-based training provider funded by the Department for Education, marked another year of success with its annual graduation ceremony held at the Guildhall in Worcester on November 6th.
At the ceremony, graduates from the 2022-2023 degree apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and skills bootcamp programs were honoured, receiving their degrees, diplomas, and awards in the presence of their families, employers, and special invitees. Esteemed guest speakers included Sarah Foley from The British Computer Society, Lydia Dams from the University of Wolverhampton, Lucy Bolton from the West Midlands Combined Authority, and Steve Borwell from Telecetera, representing West Midlands Employers, among other distinguished guests.
Derrin Kent, Director of Studies and MD at TDM, expressed pride in witnessing apprentices and skills bootcamp learners achieving government-funded and nationally recognized qualifications while advancing their careers in the tech and digital fields. Kent highlighted the inclusivity of TDM’s learning opportunities, emphasising that any adult, regardless of their current salary, age, or prior qualifications, can apprentice or enroll in a degree or bootcamp to acquire new digital skills.
“It is important that local employers continue to work on their skills and knowledge strategy, including the promotion of women and ethnic minorities in the STEM sector to ensure a diverse workforce“
Steve Borwell
Special commendations were extended to degree apprenticeship graduates, particularly those who persevered through the challenges of the pandemic years and graduated with first-class honours. Guest speakers underscored the strategic importance of tech and digital skills development in the UK’s national agenda to ensure a robust economy for the future. Degree apprentices were acknowledged as the tech leaders of today, while Tech and Digital Skills Bootcamp and Level 3/4 Apprentices embarked on a journey to support their employers.
TDM’s efforts to increase the participation of women and BAME communities in tech and digital apprenticeships were recognized and celebrated. Manisha Kaur, a degree apprentice graduate, expressed gratitude to TDM for the opportunity to progress in her career, now managing and leading tech projects.
