Sumaiyah’s Aspiring Journey: A Future Leader in Early Years Education

Sumaiyah’s journey through her early years apprenticeship stands as a shining example of dedication, ambition, and the power of personal and professional growth. From the outset, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and education, underpinned by a clear vision for her future within the sector.

During her Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship with Pathway Group, Sumaiyah consistently displayed a calm, methodical, and solutions-focused approach to her work. Her ability to address challenges with confidence and clarity has earned her recognition from both her tutors and colleagues. With a solid grasp of health and safety procedures and safeguarding protocols, Sumaiyah has helped to create a safe and enriching environment for the children in her care — a core tenet of early years provision.

"cultivate leadership qualities"

Notably, Sumaiyah has begun to cultivate leadership qualities that are already making an impact in her setting. She supports her team with professionalism, fosters collaboration, and contributes positively to the nursery’s working culture. Her approach aligns with the ABC model of career progression — A Job, Better Job, Career — as she builds experience and knowledge en route to her long-term goal of becoming a nursery manager.

A significant milestone in her journey was the successful completion of her Level 2 qualification, where she achieved a Pass. This accomplishment is a direct result of her perseverance, growing expertise, and clear passion for early years education. Motivated by this success, Sumaiyah is now preparing to progress onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship — a step that will enable her to further develop her skills and take on more advanced responsibilities.

"how apprenticeships can empower individuals"

Sumaiyah’s aspirations extend far beyond her current role. Over the next five years, she hopes to attend university and pursue higher-level qualifications in early years leadership. Her ambition is to move into primary school teaching, where she can have a broader impact on child development, mentor other practitioners, and contribute to raising standards across the early years and primary education landscape. At the same time, she remains enthusiastic about nursery management, continuing to explore multiple avenues for leadership in the sector.

Her employer at Little Care Bearz has spoken highly of both Sumaiyah and the support provided throughout her training:
“The training and assessor is very supportive — one of the best we have worked with. She is excellent at building relationships with learners.”

Sumaiyah’s story reflects the remarkable transformation that can be achieved through dedication, support, and a clear sense of purpose. Her proactive mindset, professionalism, and forward-thinking attitude mark her out as a promising future leader in early years education. As she continues to grow and develop, there is no doubt that she will make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of the children and communities she serves.
