Reset, Restart, Career Change… Jahanggir’s Success

The Restart Scheme is supporting Universal Credit claimants who have been out of work for at least 12 months with enhanced support to find jobs in their local area.

This week we’re celebrating Jahanggir’s success in securing full-time work, with online grocery service the Ocado Group, having been referred by Yardley Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) JobCentre Plus to our new Birmingham City Council Pathway SkillsZone Centre located in Scala House, B1.

Jahanggir had previously worked within the #hospitality sector, however, following lockdown, he felt a change of industry would offer him more security for the future.

Having spent quality time with his Skills & Progression Coach Kiara Mackay, to #rebuild his #confidence, undergo careers #guidance, update his CV and complete #interview preparation.

Jahanggir and Kiara felt that a job within warehousing and logistics would offer him a secure, long-term future. Shortly, after making this decision, Jahanggir secured a number of interviews and has now taken up the role of Personal Shopper with Ocado.

“After completing his first weeks’ initial training period, Jahanggir has settled in well to his new role and is hopeful for the future” – Kiara Mackay

From everyone at #TeamPathway, we wish you all the best for your new career Jahanggir.

We’re working with Serco to support the people of #Birmingham and the #BlackCountry providing enhanced support to find jobs in their local area.
