Online Extremism and Youth Radicalisation

Young Minds, Dangerous Influences

Today’s online spaces can be powerful tools for learning—but they’re also being exploited by extremist groups. Apps like TikTok, Discord, and even gaming chats are used to spread hate, disinformation, and violent ideologies. Teenagers may not recognise radicalisation in its early stages, as it often appears in the form of memes, jokes, or “truth-telling” influencers.

What You Can Do:

  • Talk to young people about what they’re watching and why.

  • Watch for sudden changes in beliefs or language.

  • Promote critical thinking and digital literacy in schools and homes.
