The Business Book Awards, in partnership with Pathway Group, celebrates the work of authors who have shared their industry or market knowledge, experience and expertise in published book form.
With nearly half a million new business start-ups in the UK annually, alongside the additional need and demand for business knowledge from individuals and organisations going through change and scaling up, the need is greater than ever.
This year has been another record-breaking year, with more than 300 books submitted. The team at Thinkfest Ltd, a division of Pathway Group that organised the awards, made some category changes from previous years to reflect on the feedback received and the extra demand and changes. For example, the last HR & Management category has been changed to People, Culture & Management to differentiate between this and the Leadership category.
In addition, the Personal Self-Development category has been split into Work & Life and Wellness & Wellbeing. On top of this, there is an introduction of a new category, Smart Thinking, which is aimed to target books that deal with more comprehensive subjects.
The CEO of Pathway Group, Safaraz Ali, stated in his speech that Pathway Group’s journey in the world of the adult education sector started around 22 years ago how they strive to make a meaningful difference to people by upskilling and reskilling. Safaraz stated that: in earlier days, he regarded education and learning for a purpose – exams or course-based activity. Only recently has he embraced learning for the joy of learning and making a more significant impact on developing and growing.
He states that “Learning now for me is about learning from peers, webinars, seminars, conferences, LinkedIn, YouTube, podcasts, audiobooks and of course books, My advice to anyone never stops learning and subscribe to the path of continuous self-development and lifelong learning and remember the words of Alvin Toffler who said that the illiterate of the 21st century are not the ones who cannot read or write but those who can’t learn, unlearn and relearn.”
