A Journey to Confidence, Employment, and Future Ambitions

MLW, a determined and aspiring young woman, was referred to the Pathway Group’s “Futures 4 All” programme by Job Centre Plus. As a care leaver, MLW was seeking opportunities to upskill, build a professional network, and enhance her prospects of securing full-time employment. Her long-term goals include achieving stable housing and establishing a meaningful career. The “Futures 4 All programme”, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and supported by the Greater London Authority (GLA), provided MLW with the structured guidance and tailored support she needed to take the first steps toward her future.

Initial Aspirations

Upon joining the programme, delivered by Pathway Group’s dedicated Skills Progression Coach, Rena, MLW clearly outlined her ambitions:

I would really like to secure a job in hospitality/ customer service and work full time. I do need some help with my CV and interview techniques as I feel a bit unsure with interviews and need to build up my confidence. I also want to break into a new industry, learn a new set of skills, and gain experience in leadership and team-building.

She also expressed a desire to:

  • Learn about career options aligned with her skills
  • Create a professional LinkedIn profile to begin networking
  • Build new competencies and expand her network
  • Grow in confidence through work experience and structured support

Programme Support and Progress

MLW engaged with both group sessions and 1:1 mentoring throughout her time on the programme. With tailored support from Coach Rena, she worked on:

  • Improving her CV and tailoring job applications
  • Interview preparation and confidence-building exercises
  • Understanding employer expectations
  • Professional networking and career exploration

Through her hard work and commitment, and with ongoing support from the “Futures 4 All” programme, MLW was able to apply for several roles and steadily grow in confidence.

Initial Aspirations

After a series of applications, MLW was invited to interview for a Sales Advisor position with Easicars Ltd, a local employer close to her home. With detailed interview preparation led by Rena, MLW entered the interview with a new sense of confidence and excitement.

We are proud to announce that MLW successfully secured the role. This employment marks an important milestone in her personal and professional journey.
