Refresh, Restart – Amna’s Story

We’re celebrating another #RestartScheme advancement of one of our Birmingham residents, Amna.

Amna - Restart Scheme

The Restart scheme gives #UniversalCredit claimants who have been out of work for at least 12 months enhanced support to find #jobs in their local area. We’re working in partnership with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Serco to support the people of Birmingham, Dudley & Walsall.

‘Before the Restart Scheme, I was a frantic mess searching for work, hitting brick walls lefts right and centre, feeling like it wasn’t going to happen.”

Having been referred by her Job Centre Advisor, Amna felt ‘relief’ and that things were about to improve.

Having spent time with her Skills & Progress Advisor, Kiara Mackay, Amna felt that her updated #CV showcased her skills accurately and that employers would desire her.

Amna recalled her motivation was “completely turned around, and I went from applying for every #job I could see, to stopping to consider what if I wanted the job.”

Soon after, Amna found her “dream job on a permanent contract.” Amna credits her success to the #PathwayTeam, providing her with a new outlook on life and the confidence to do well in life.

Amna believes if it weren’t for the Restart Scheme, she wouldn’t have secured her new position as a Business Support Manager with Birmingham City Council.

The team at Pathway Group, wish Amna the best of luck in her new role!
