Course Description

Skills for care has published a new framework to support social care workers in providing care to older lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) people.

This new framework was commissioned and funded by skills for care and developed by the University of Strathclyde and the pride in ageing programme at LGBT foundation. It was created in collaboration with older LGBTQ+ people.

These experiences can still have a lasting impact on older LGBTQ+ people today, and so it’s vital that people providing care and support understand these issues.

Describe the new LGBTQ+ Framework
Outline the background to the framework
Identify who are LGBTQ+ people
Identify legislation and national frameworks in place to protect individuals under the LGBTQ+ umbrella
Describe ways to promote social inclusion as a core value
Identify ways to challenge discriminatory behaviours and comments
