It is aimed at learners looking to further their skills and knowledge and to gain a qualification in dementia awareness.
This qualification is designed for those learners who are working with or aspire to work with individuals who have dementia. It is a knowledge only qualification, which covers the following areas:
- dementia awareness,
- the person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia,
- understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia, and
- understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care.
How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?
This qualification requires 72 guided learning hours.
This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16+ for delivery in England.
How is the qualification assessed?
This qualification is assessed through completion of a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed and internally quality assured by the centre.
Individuals achieving this qualification can choose to progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF) or the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) or any of the professional development qualifications for care.
