Adult Care

The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment in health and social care and/or support someone already in a role in the workplace.

Course Content

This qualification is aimed at all staff, particularly new starters in any workplace, where a basic understanding of health and social care settings is required.  Learners gaining this qualification will cover topics such as the introduction to the prevention and control of infection, introduction to mental health awareness and communication in children’s services and adult social care settings.

Mandatory Units

This qualification includes the following mandatory units:

  • Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare
  • Understand the principles and values in health and social care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare

It is assessed by a portfolio of evidence.
