Warehousing and Storage Level 2

With online shopping becoming somewhat the norm, the need for warehousing space is at its peak.  And with more warehousing space come more warehousing staff, therefore more skills required.  This award meets all of the necessary regulatory points and covers health and safety in great detail.  As an entry level award, this is the perfect start for someone wishing to enter the world of warehousing whether that be on the floor, in the office or wanting to progress into management.

Paired with maths and English, this is the perfect start for a warehousing apprentice.

Structure of apprenticeship

Mandatory Units

  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations
  • Health, Safety and Security at work

Optional Units Include

  • Process orders for customers in logistics operations
  • Place goods in storage in logistics operations
  • Keep work areas clean in logistics operations
  • Use a forklift side-loader in logistics operations
  • Use a compact crane in logistics operations
  • Moving and/or handling goods in logistics operations
  • Use a hoist in logistics operations
  • Maintain the safety and security of hazardous goods and materials in logistics operations

Assessment

You will develop technical knowledge and will show competence through work activities. Assessments involves observation of the duties carried out and a range of other methods; including witness statements, professional discussions and reflective accounts, written reports and computer based assignments in the work place. You will work with your assessor to gain a work based qualification and will work with an electronic portfolio that enables you to demonstrate your skills practically.

Warehousing and Storage Level 3

For those who potentially have a team of warehouse operatives in their control, or for those who are on a plan to progress through the sector, then this qualification offers the hints, tips and training that is needed to succeed in the higher ranks of a warehouse.  With a particular emphasis on leading and managing, this is for the budding manager wanting to enhance themselves and their career.

Maths and English at Level 2 form part of the award and assist in stocktaking and order processing activities in the workplace, in ideal qualification to hold.

Structure of apprenticeship

  • Take responsibility for health, safety and security in your team
  • Provide leadership for your team in logistics operations
  • Contribute to the provision of customer service in logistics operations
  • Supervise the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods

  • Check stock levels and stock records
  • Maintain the safety and security of hazardous goods and materials in logistics operations
  • Recruit, select and keep colleagues in logistics operations
  • Manage your own professional development in logistics operations
  • Allocate and check work in your team in logistics operations
  • Inducting new colleagues into a logistics operation
  • Schedule logistics operations to meet customers requirements
